When it comes to cardiovascular exercise I want to know what type will give me the best results in the shortest amount of time. Intensity is the key and the figures below are based off of a 160# individual for a duration of 60 minutes.
- Running- Running tops the charts with a whopping 985 calories per hour. When it comes to running I recommend varying your speeds and if you are on a treadmill try alternating your incline for a good variety of intensities.
- Roller Blading: Other than an amazing cardiovascular workout this exercise will work muscles that you haven’t felt in years. Total calories - 915
- Jump Rope-This is an exercise that has been forgotten. This exercise works every single muscle in your body and teaches a ton of agility. I recommend doing intervals with this as well. This exercise performed for an hour is a rarity because of its intensity. This exercise burns 160 calories in about 15minutes or 690 in 60minutes.
- Stair Master- Another total body workout that blasts a ton of calories. Total=650
- Racquetball- Another great cardio workout that burns a ton of calories and produces a great sweat. Total calories=520 in 1 hour.
Now keep in mind your intensity levels determine more or less calories for each individual and of course your bodyweight is the deciding factor. Good luck and and some new types into your weekly routine.
